UP Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2025: Appointment letters will not be issued; High Court stays the process..
UP Police SI Recruitment 2025: Significant news has emerged regarding the recruitment process for candidates aspiring to become Sub-Inspectors in the Uttar Pradesh Police. The Allahabad High Court has temporarily stayed the issuance of appointment letters to candidates selected under the UP Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2025 drive. The court has scheduled the next hearing for this matter on October 5. The issue stems from changes made to the answers of certain questions in the final answer key of the written examination.
**Over 1.5 Million Candidates Applied**
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPBPB) issued a notification on August 12, 2025, for direct recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) and equivalent positions. A total of 1,575,706 applications were received for this recruitment. The written examination was conducted on March 14 and 15 in two shifts each day, with approximately 1.077 million candidates appearing for the test.
Following the written examination, the recruitment board released the provisional answer key on March 23, giving candidates the opportunity to raise objections regarding the answers provided. Subsequently, the final answer key and the written examination results were released on May 7.
**Answers Changed in the Final Answer Key**
Petitioners argued in court that the answers to certain questions were altered between the provisional and final answer keys. Candidates claim that these changes directly impacted their scores. Since each question in the exam carried 2.5 marks, some candidates failed to qualify for the next round by a very narrow margin.
According to the petitioners, there were candidates who were initially considered eligible for the next round but were excluded by a margin of one or two marks in the final results declared on July 14. Candidates raised objections regarding the altered answers, but they claim the recruitment board failed to take the expected action on these grievances. Consequently, the matter reached the High Court.
**12,733 Candidates Qualified for the Next Round**
The written examination results were declared on May 7, with a total of 12,733 candidates qualifying for the next stage of the recruitment process. Subsequently, the final results were released on July 14. Meanwhile, preparations were underway to issue appointment letters to the selected candidates, with plans for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to distribute them.
However, following the High Court's order, the process of issuing appointment letters has been halted for the time being. Justice Anil Kumar Gupta issued this order while hearing the petitions. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 5. It is worth noting that petitions have been filed in court by candidates including Shyam Sundar and Kamlesh Yadav, as well as by a group of 44 candidates that includes Yash Pandey.
