There is welcome news for aspirants preparing for the UP PCS 2026 examination. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has increased the number of posts for the PCS recruitment. While the advertisement issued in June initially announced recruitment for 500 posts, the figure has now risen to 728 following the receipt of vacancy details from various departments—an addition of 228 posts. Notably, this vacancy count is not yet final; additional posts reported before the declaration of the preliminary examination results may also be included in this recruitment drive.

**Number of Posts Increased from 500 to 728**
UPPSC had announced 500 posts when it released the PCS-2026 recruitment advertisement on June 25. Subsequently, various departments submitted details of their vacant positions to the Commission. With the inclusion of these posts, the total number of vacancies has reached 728, thereby increasing opportunities for PCS aspirants. The Commission may still receive information regarding further vacancies from other departments.

**Highest Number of Posts in the Secondary Education Department**
According to available information, the Secondary Education Department accounts for 158 posts of Principal. Additionally, there are 41 vacancies for positions such as Assistant District Inspector of Schools, Deputy Secretary (Secondary Education Board), District Inspector of Schools, and equivalent roles. The recruitment also includes 122 posts for Senior Lecturers at DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) under the Basic Education Department.

There are 74 posts for Child Development Project Officers and 58 for Assistant District Employment Assistance Officers. Recruitment will also be conducted for 33 Deputy Collector posts.

**Vacancies in Other Departments**
The Urban Development Department has 26 posts for Assistant Municipal Commissioner/Executive Officer (Category-2) and nine posts for Accounts and Finance Officers. Other included posts comprise 56 Assistant Commissioners (Industries), 16 Labour Enforcement Officers, 17 Food Safety Officers, and 14 Excise Inspectors. The State Agricultural Produce Mandi Council has 28 posts of Secretary (Category-2), seven of Accounts and Reconciliation Officer, and two of Marketing Officer. There are five posts in the Finance Department and eight posts of Administrator in the Secretariat Administration.

Details of other posts
The Social Welfare Department has 13 posts of District Social Welfare Officer and equivalent ranks. There are seven posts of District Probation Officer. There are four posts each for District Supply Officer, District Commandant (Home Guards), and Assistant Commissioner (Khadi and Village Industries). There are two posts of District Panchayat Raj Officer.

Additionally, there is one post each for District Programme Officer, Assistant Controller (Legal Metrology), Officer on Special Duty (Computer), Assistant Prosecution Officer, and District Minority Welfare Officer. The preliminary examination for PCS-2026 is proposed to be held in December.
