There is important news for candidates preparing for the recruitment of assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has added two more educational qualifications for the recruitment of assistant teachers in primary-level positions. Candidates holding a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree or a two-year Diploma in Special Education—recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India—are now also considered eligible.
In a notification issued on October 28, 2026, the Commission stated that this change has been made in light of an order from the Allahabad High Court dated October 24 and a directive from the Uttar Pradesh government dated October 27. This amendment applies to the recruitment for assistant teacher positions (primary level) under Advertisement No. 05/2026.
Application Deadline Extended
Along with the inclusion of these new qualifications, the Commission has provided additional time for submitting applications. Interested candidates may now apply until November 4, 2026. The deadline for making corrections to application forms has been set for November 7, 2026. The Commission has clarified that the written examination will be conducted as originally scheduled, on December 3 and 4, 2026.
How many positions are being filled?
A total of 12,405 assistant teacher positions are being filled in Uttar Pradesh under Advertisement No. 05/2026. This includes 11,508 positions in urban primary schools under the Basic Education Department and 897 positions in primary schools affiliated with aided secondary schools.
