The state government has decided to give a big relief to the candidates in recruiting Sub Inspector Civil Police and equivalent posts by giving them three years of relaxation in the age limit. However, this relaxation will be provided only once and it will not be considered as a precedent in any case in the future. Its order has been issued by the Home Department. Let us tell you that earlier in December 2023, candidates were also given three years of relaxation in constable recruitment.

According to the order, it has been decided to provide a relaxation of three years in the age limit for one time as an exception for all categories in the age limit prescribed for direct recruitment about a total of 4543 vacancies arising in the Police Department for the posts of Sub Inspector Civil Police and equivalent posts from the selection year 2020-21 to the selection year 2024-25. This relaxation will be provided due to special circumstances under the UP Public Service (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules 1992.

Agniveers will get a 20 percent reservation in police recruitment.

In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the proposal to give 20 percent reservation to Agniveers in police recruitment got the green signal. Reservation will be given in direct recruitment of constable, PAC, constable horse rider, and fireman in UP Police. For this, 20 percent of the posts will be reserved and horizontal reservation will be given. Along with this, a relaxation of three years will also be given in the maximum age limit by reducing the service period as Agniveer.

Exemption was given in constable recruitment.

Earlier, candidates were also given a relaxation of three years for direct recruitment to 60,244 posts of constable civil police. In fact, due to no recruitment in the police for about 5 years, the opposition parties along with the candidates had demanded this, after which the Chief Minister had decided to give relaxation in the age limit. Let us tell you that due to the Corona epidemic, the process of recruitment in the police had also stopped, due to which lakhs of candidates were being deprived of appearing in the examination. After this relaxation, there was a tremendous increase in the applications for constable recruitment. The board had estimated about 25 lakh applications, while about 48 lakh applications were received.
