There is good news for candidates preparing to become Assistant Professors in Uttar Pradesh's aided colleges. The Directorate of Higher Education has forwarded a proposal for a total of 2,107 vacant posts across 44 subjects in 330 aided colleges to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. The highest number of vacancies—195—is in the subject of Hindi. This recruitment drive, taking place after a long hiatus, will offer a large number of positions across various disciplines, including Science, Arts, Commerce, and Education. The Selection Commission is now expected to soon issue an advertisement and commence the application process—a move awaited by thousands of candidates.
The recruitment process for Assistant Professors in 330 aided colleges across Uttar Pradesh has moved forward. The Directorate of Higher Education has submitted details of the 2,107 vacant posts across 44 subjects to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. Of these, 1,699 vacancies are in co-educational colleges, while 408 posts are for women's colleges. Notably, 21 minority-run aided colleges in the state have not reported any vacant posts.
**Highest Number of Posts (195) in Hindi**
In this recruitment drive—held after nearly four years—the subject of Hindi accounts for the highest number of vacancies at 195. This is followed by Chemistry (178), B.Ed. (176), English (111), Botany (104), Economics (103), and Sanskrit (100). The Selection Commission has already released the new syllabus for all subjects. A detailed recruitment advertisement is likely to be issued following the completion of departmental-level discussions.
**Over 50 Vacancies in 17 Subjects**
Seventeen subjects will see appointments for more than 50 posts each. The proposed vacancies include Commerce (99), Physics (98), Geography (96), Political Science (94), Zoology (91), Sociology (81), Psychology (71), Law (61), History (60), and Mathematics (51). This is expected to provide a significant number of opportunities for candidates across various disciplines.
Very Few Posts in Several Subjects
There are certain subjects with a very low number of vacancies. There is only one post each for Asian Culture, Anthropology, and Instrumental Music (Sitar). There are two posts each for Agricultural Statistics and Poultry Science; four for Entomology; five each for Agricultural & Plant Breeding and Agricultural Extension; six for Geology; seven for Horticulture; and eight each for Agricultural Chemistry and Agricultural Botany. Nine posts have been allocated for Instrumental Music (Tabla). Posts for the subject of Poultry Science will not be advertised separately.
