UP Anganwadi Recruitment 2026: There is good news for women preparing for government jobs in Uttar Pradesh. The state's Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition has issued instructions to accelerate the recruitment process for thousands of vacant Anganwadi Worker and Helper positions. The department has sought details of vacancies from all districts to ensure the recruitment drive can begin as soon as possible. Additionally, new appointments will be made to fill vacancies left by recently retired Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.
How many positions will be filled?
A total of 28,608 positions will be filled across the state under this recruitment drive. This includes 7,068 positions for Anganwadi Workers and 21,540 for Helpers. The department has directed District Programme Officers to expedite the recruitment process.
Details of vacancies to be made public
To ensure transparency in the recruitment process, lists of vacant positions in all districts will be displayed at the Collectorate, Vikas Bhawan, Tehsil, and Development Block offices. Furthermore, advertisements will be published in local newspapers, and complete information will be made available on the online portal.
No recruitment in 6 districts for two years
The department has expressed dissatisfaction over the failure to initiate the recruitment process since 2024 in the districts of Ghazipur, Hathras, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Pilibhit, and Varanasi. Preparations are now underway to start the selection process in these districts soon.
Who can apply?
Female candidates applying for the posts of Anganwadi Worker and Helper must have passed at least the 12th standard. Additionally, the candidate must be a resident of the specific Gram Panchayat (rural area) or Ward (urban area) for which she is applying. If a suitable candidate is not found within a Gram Panchayat, the selection will be made from the concerned Nyaya Panchayat in accordance with the rules.
What is the age limit?
The minimum age limit for the post of Anganwadi Worker is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 35 years.
Selection without examination
There will be no written examination or interview for this recruitment. Candidates will be selected based on a merit list prepared using marks from their educational qualifications, including Class 12. Priority in the selection process will be given to widows, divorcees, and women living below the poverty line (BPL).
