UKSSSC: Recruitment for Personal Assistant-Stenographer posts; who is eligible to apply? Salary ranges from ₹27,000 to ₹1.42 lakh..

The Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has issued a notification for the recruitment of 101 Personal Assistant and Stenographer posts. Online applications for these positions began on September 14. Eligible candidates can apply via the official website, sssc.uk.gov.in, until October 14, 2026.

Candidates will initially be selected based on a 100-mark written competitive examination. This offline exam will have a duration of two hours and will feature multiple-choice questions covering subjects related to the educational qualifications required for the posts.

Based on performance in the written exam, candidates up to four times the number of vacancies will be called for the typing and shorthand/dictation test. This test is qualifying in nature; the marks obtained will not be included in the final merit list.

What are the application criteria?
Personal Assistant: Must have passed Class 12. A speed of at least 80 words per minute in Hindi shorthand and 4,000 key depressions per hour in Hindi typing is required.
Personal Assistant (Uttarakhand Judicial and Legal Academy): Must have passed Class 12 and possess a one-year certificate/diploma in shorthand and typing. Required speeds are 100 words per minute for English shorthand and 80 words per minute for Hindi shorthand; typing speed must be 4,000 key depressions per hour.
Stenographer: Candidates who have passed Class 12 can apply. Shorthand speed must be 80 words per minute and typing speed 40 words per minute in both Hindi and English.
Stenographer Grade-3: Must be a graduate from a recognized university. Typing speeds of 80 words per minute in English and 60 words per minute in Hindi are required. Additionally, a 3-month MS Office course is mandatory.
Stenographer Grade-2: Must have passed Class 12 and possess knowledge of shorthand and typing in both Hindi and English. Candidates must possess Hindi shorthand speed of 80 wpm and typing speed of 25 wpm, while English shorthand speed should be 80 wpm and typing speed 30 wpm. Knowledge of MS Office and at least 3 years of relevant experience are also required.

Age Limit: For the UKSSSC Personal Assistant and Stenographer recruitment, age will be calculated as of July 1, 2026. The minimum age is set at 21 years for some posts and 18 years for others. The maximum age limit for all relevant posts is 42 years.

What is the application fee?
Unreserved (UR) and Uttarakhand OBC category candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹300. For Uttarakhand SC, ST, and EWS category candidates, the fee is ₹150. Uttarakhand PwD (Divyang) candidates must also pay an application fee of ₹150.
