Lieutenant Colonel Clement Lalhmingthanga, MLA of the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), stated in a press conference that the recruitment rally for the Territorial Army (Home and Hearth) will be jointly organized by the Mizoram government and the 166th Assam Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. He stated that the recruitment drive will open up new opportunities for Mizo youth, including women, to serve in the armed forces.

Lalhmingthanga, head of the state-level committee empowered to coordinate and establish the Territorial Army, said that 144 general duty personnel positions will be filled during the rally, nine of which are reserved for women to encourage their participation in the armed forces. He said that the TA will receive salaries similar to those of the Indian Army and certain benefits, including medical assistance.
Lalhmingthanga said that personnel will be appointed for a long period based on their performance and needs. After completing their service period, they will be entitled to a pension and other benefits. This is a major opportunity for many youth in the state. The youth have been waiting for such recruitment for a long time.
