The Delhi High Court has directed the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to expedite the recruitment process for teaching and non-teaching positions. The court ordered the publication of advertisements within two months. The court was hearing a petition filed by the Social Jurists' Association seeking contempt proceedings against KVS and NVS for violating the court's order.

Recruitment orders had been issued earlier.
Advocate Ashok Agarwal, representing the Social Jurists' Association, submitted that on August 5, 2024, the High Court had ordered the immediate appointment of 987 teachers. No action has been taken on this order, and therefore, contempt proceedings should be initiated against the relevant institutions.

Recruitment process for special educators to be completed by December 31st.
Following this, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan informed the court through an affidavit that in a meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Education on September 1st, it was decided to complete recruitment for all vacant posts, especially special educators, by December 31st.

CBSE has been given the responsibility to prepare an advertisement
The court was informed that CBSE has been directed to prepare the advertisement and initiate the application process, the notification of which may be issued at any time. Meanwhile, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has recalculated the vacancies for all teaching and non-teaching positions and included these vacancies in the advertisement. The court ordered the issuance of the advertisement within two months.

After receiving notice of the petitioner's withdrawal of the current petition, the court disposed of the petition. The court also stated that if the order is not complied with within the stipulated time, the petitioner may file a fresh petition.
