The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has amended the advertisement (No. 15/2026) for the fourth phase of the teacher recruitment examination (TRE-4.0) by adding 832 new posts. According to the BPSC, appointments will now be made against a total of 33,220 vacant school teacher positions; previously, there were 32,388 posts. Under the revised supplementary requisition, 493 posts have been added for secondary schools and 439 for higher secondary schools, resulting in a total increase of 832 posts. The secondary level includes posts for school teachers (Classes 9–10) and special school teachers, while the higher secondary level comprises teacher posts for Classes 11–12.

**Clarification on teacher eligibility marks:**
The BPSC has also clarified the qualifying marks for the teacher eligibility examination. According to the notification, the provisions applicable to BTET 2017 will apply to CTET candidates. The minimum qualifying marks have been set at 60% for General category candidates; 55% for candidates belonging to the Backward Class, Extremely Backward Class, and General category (female); and a minimum of 50% for SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates. For candidates who have passed STET Paper-I and Paper-II, the qualifying marks prescribed by the Bihar School Examination Board for the secondary teacher eligibility test will be valid. The same minimum marks applicable to General category candidates will apply to all male and female candidates from outside the state.
District-wise and Subject-wise Details on the Website
The Bihar Public Service Commission has announced that full details regarding district-wise, subject-wise, and category-wise vacancies for the posts of secondary school teachers, special school teachers, and higher secondary school teachers have been made available on the Commission's website. Advertisement No. 15/2026, previously issued on September 22, will be considered amended to the extent of these changes, while all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

Who can apply?

For middle school teachers, a graduation degree along with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and CTET/BTET Paper-2 qualification is mandatory.
Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers
The age limit for secondary and higher secondary teacher posts is 21 to 37 years.
For the secondary school teacher post, a graduation degree along with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and STET Paper-1 is required.
For the higher secondary school teacher post, a postgraduate degree along with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and STET Paper-2 qualification is required.
