SSC Stenographer Eligibility: What are the Qualifications and Age Requirements?
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th-grade examination or an equivalent examination from a recognized board by August 1, 2026. For the Stenographer Grade 'D' post, a transcription time of 50 minutes for English and 65 minutes for Hindi is required. Conversely, for the Stenographer Grade 'C' post, a transcription time of 40 minutes for English and 45 minutes for Hindi is stipulated.
Age Limit: For the Stenographer Grade 'C' post, the candidate's age must be between 18 and 30 years as of August 1, 2026. In terms of dates of birth, this implies that the candidate must have been born between August 2, 1996, and August 1, 2008 (inclusive). For the Stenographer Grade 'D' post, the applicant's age must be between 18 and 27 years. Regarding the maximum age limit, a relaxation of 5 years is granted to SC/ST candidates, 3 years to OBC candidates, 10 years to (Unreserved/EWS) PwD candidates, 13 years to OBC (PwBD) candidates, and 15 years to SC/ST (PwBD) candidates. Rules regarding additional age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen, war casualties, and similar categories are also applicable.
