SSC Stenographer Vacancy: Registration Begins for Over 700 Stenographer Posts—An Opportunity for 12th-Pass Candidates..

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Stenographers. Candidates aspiring to secure a government job can apply for the SSC Stenographer positions. The application process for this recruitment drive has already commenced. Interested and eligible candidates can complete the online application process by visiting the official website, ssc.gov.in, on or before May 15, 2026. Candidates will also be provided an opportunity to make corrections to their application forms on May 20 and 21.

**Who Can Apply?**
To apply for the post of Stenographer Grade 'C', candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age. Additionally, for the post of Stenographer Grade 'D', the prescribed age limit for candidates is 18 to 27 years.
The age of the candidates will be calculated as of August 1, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation as per government norms.
To apply for these positions, candidates must have passed the 12th standard (Class 12) from a recognized educational institution in India.

**Application Fee**
Payment of the registration fee is mandatory for applying to the Stenographer positions. The application fee has been fixed at ₹100 for candidates belonging to the unreserved category. Furthermore, candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and female categories are exempted from paying the registration fee.

**Exam Pattern**
In the examination, candidates will be asked 200 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 200 marks, covering subjects such as General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language. There will also be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for a Skill Test. Subsequently, candidates who qualify in the Skill Test will be required to appear for the Document Verification process.

**Required Scores**
The examination will be conducted in a computer-based mode. To pass the examination, it is mandatory for General category candidates to secure 30 percent marks, for OBC and EWS candidates to secure 25 percent, and for Reserved category candidates to secure a minimum of 20 percent marks.
