SSC CPO Notification 2026: There is good news for candidates who have been eagerly awaiting the SSC CPO recruitment for 2026. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the recruitment of Sub-Inspectors (CPO) in the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The application process for this recruitment has commenced. This recruitment drive introduces several significant changes. The SSC has implemented new rules covering aspects ranging from the exam pattern to negative marking and sectional timing. Through the SSC CPO 2026 process, eligible candidates will be selected to fill over 1,800 vacancies. This includes 205 posts for male candidates and 112 posts for female candidates as Sub-Inspectors in the Delhi Police.
Additionally, there are 1,320 vacancies for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) in the CAPF. These vacancies span major security forces such as the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. The BSF alone accounts for the highest number of vacancies, with 457 posts.
**Eligibility Criteria and Conditions for SSC CPO Recruitment 2026**
**Educational Qualification:** For most posts, a graduation degree from a recognized university is mandatory. However, for the post of Sub-Inspector (Fire), candidates are required to have a B.Sc. degree with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or a three-year engineering diploma in trades such as Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical engineering. A valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license is mandatory for the post of Delhi Police SI (Male).
**Age Limit:** Applicants must be between 20 and 25 years of age. In accordance with the rules, age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates, and 3 years for OBC candidates. 3 Major Changes to the SSC Exam Pattern and Syllabus
Sectional Timing: Following the pattern of CHSL and CGL, sectional timing has now been implemented for the CPO exam as well.
Changes in Paper Pattern: Paper-I will now consist of 100 questions in total—25 questions each from Reasoning, GK, Mathematics, and English—and the exam duration has been reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour. Meanwhile, Paper-II will also comprise 100 questions carrying 200 marks.
Negative Marking: Negative marking of 0.25 marks for Paper-I and 0.50 marks for Paper-II will now apply.
Height and Physical Test Standards
Male candidates must have a minimum height of 170 cm (relaxations apply for candidates from hilly areas and the ST category). The height requirement for women is set at 157 cm. In the physical test, men must complete a 100-meter race in 16 seconds, while women must complete it in 18 seconds. Additionally, qualifying in the long jump and high jump is mandatory.
SSC CPO Salary Details
Delhi Police SI (Male/Female): Salary will range from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 under Level-06 (Group-C).
CAPF and CISF Fire SI: An initial basic salary of ₹25,400 to ₹35,400, plus other allowances, will be provided under Level-06.
