SSC CHT Recruitment 2026: SSC Announces Recruitment for Hindi Translators; Applications Open—Know the Selection Process..

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced recruitment for several Hindi Translator positions and has invited applications for the same. The SSC recently issued a notification for the Combined Hindi Translator Examination 2026. The registration process for this recruitment drive commenced on April 23, 2026, and the deadline for submitting applications is May 14. Candidates interested in applying for this examination can do so by visiting the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in.

The window for online fee payment for this recruitment will close on May 15, 2026. Meanwhile, the window for making corrections to applications will open on May 19 and close on May 20, 2026, while the examination itself is scheduled to be conducted in August-September. Under this recruitment drive, the SSC will recruit Hindi Translators for a total of 84 vacancies.

What are the eligibility criteria?
For the posts of Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator and Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator, candidates must possess a Master's degree in Hindi from a recognized university, with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or with English as the medium of examination at the degree level.

A Master's degree in English from a recognized university, with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or with Hindi as the medium of examination at the degree level.

What is the application fee?
The application fee for these posts is ₹100. However, female candidates, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and ex-servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying the application fee. The application fee can be paid only through online modes, such as BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit Cards.

What is the selection process?
The Combined Hindi Translator Examination will consist of two papers. The first paper will comprise objective-type questions, while the second paper will consist of descriptive-type questions. Based on the marks secured in the first paper—which is a Computer-Based Examination—candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear for the second paper (the descriptive paper). A negative marking system of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer will be applicable in the first paper.
