SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam 2025 Schedule Announced: Candidates to Choose Exam City and Date from October 22

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the schedule for the SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Tier 1 Exam 2025, putting an end to weeks of speculation among aspirants. The computer-based test (CBT) will now commence from November 12, 2025, instead of the earlier announced dates of September 8 to 18, 2025. Along with this, the commission has also provided candidates with an opportunity to choose their exam city, date, and shift as per their convenience.
Candidates Can Select Exam City and Date Between October 22 and 28
As per the SSC notification, registered candidates will be able to log in to the official SSC portal between October 22 and October 28, 2025, to select their preferred exam city, date, and shift. When candidates log into the portal, they will see available slots in the three cities they had selected while filling out their application form. Based on availability, they can pick any suitable slot in their preferred city.
However, candidates who have opted to appear in regional languages will have fewer date and shift options, as per the commission’s guidelines.
What Happens After Slot Selection?
If a candidate’s selected cities run out of available slots, SSC will offer them alternative cities where seats are still open. The commission has clarified that it will make every effort to allocate slots in one of the chosen cities, though it cannot guarantee a specific date or shift.
Candidates are advised to make their selections carefully, as no changes will be allowed once a slot is finalized.
Important Instructions from the Commission
SSC has made it clear that candidates who fail to choose their exam city, date, and shift within the given time frame will be considered ineligible to appear for the Tier 1 exam. Hence, aspirants are strongly advised to complete their selection process within the stipulated window.
The commission also urged candidates to review their choices carefully before submission, since the selection process is final and non-editable.
