SSC CGL Vacancy 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the final vacancy count for the Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) 2025 examination. Recruitment for 15,125 posts will be conducted through SSC CGL 2025. Although the SSC had previously indicated 15,130 vacancies last week, the Commission has now reduced the count by five. The initial SSC CGL notification issued by the Commission on June 9, 2025, had listed 14,582 vacancies; this implies that a total of 543 posts have subsequently been added.
Various ministries, departments, and organizations of the Central Government—as well as various constitutional bodies, tribunals, etc. had submitted requisitions for an additional 548 posts across Group 'B' and Group 'C' categories. According to the notice issued by the Commission on Thursday, out of the total 15,125 posts, 6,459 are reserved for the Unreserved category, 3,834 for OBC, 2,223 for SC, 1,134 for ST, and 1,475 for the EWS category.
Which Post Has the Highest Number of Vacancies?
The highest number of vacancies—6,626 posts—are for the position of Superintendent under the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), which falls under the Ministry of Finance. Additionally, this includes 412 posts for Inspector of Income Tax and 1,294 posts for Tax Assistant. Under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)—also under the Ministry of Finance—the vacancies include 1,306 posts for Inspector (Central Excise), 137 for Inspector (Examiner), 353 for Inspector (Preventive Officer), 183 for Executive Assistant, and 771 for Tax Assistant.

According to the Commission, these recruitments will be carried out across several key departments and ministries of the Central Government. Through these appointments, the aim is not only to strengthen administrative operations but also to address the staff shortages currently prevailing in various government offices. The SSC CGL examination is regarded as one of the most popular competitive examinations in the country, providing thousands of aspirants with the opportunity to secure a government job every year.
