There is good news for young aspirants preparing for government jobs within the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The recruitment drive for SSB Constable and Head Constable positions for the year 2026 has been officially announced through a notification published in the *Employment News*. According to the notification, the application process for these posts commenced on March 21 and will continue until the stipulated deadline of April 20, 2026.
Recruitment Details
As per the notification, the SSB intends to fill a total of 1,060 vacant positions through this recruitment drive. Of these, 233 posts are reserved for Head Constables, while 827 posts are allocated for Constables.
Eligibility and Criteria
To apply for the SSB Constable positions, candidates must have passed the 10th grade from a recognized board, in accordance with the specific post or trade requirements. Additionally, candidates must possess a Driving License (HVM), an ITI certificate in the relevant trade (along with a 10th-grade pass), or demonstrated proficiency in the respective field. Furthermore, to apply for the Head Constable positions, candidates must have completed their 10th grade along with an ITI certificate, or their 12th grade along with a diploma in the relevant discipline.
To participate in this recruitment process, candidates must be at least 18 years of age. The maximum age limit varies by post—it must not exceed 25 years for certain posts and 27 years for others. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation in the upper age limit in accordance with government regulations.
Application Process and Fees
To participate in this recruitment drive, candidates will be able to fill out and submit their application forms online via the official SSB website, starting from March 21. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted. Along with submitting the form, candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹100. Candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories are exempted from paying the fee and may submit their applications free of cost.
Selection Process
To be selected for these positions, candidates will be required to undergo and successfully clear the following stages: Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Written Examination, Skill Test/Typing Test, Document Verification, and Medical Examination.
