SBI Clerk Recruitment: The State Bank of India has released the notification for Clerk recruitment (2026). This drive aims to fill 1,538 Junior Associate posts. The recruitment is specifically for filling backlog vacancies reserved for SC, ST, and OBC categories. Eligible candidates can apply online from August 7 to August 27, 2026.

Applications will be accepted only through the official SBI website. According to the notification, candidates can apply for vacancies in only one state or Union Territory.

Recruitment for 1,538 Posts

This special SBI recruitment drive comprises a total of 1,538 vacancies. These include 207 posts for SC, 1,219 for ST, and 112 for OBC categories. General category candidates cannot apply. State-wise, the highest number of vacancies is in Gujarat (289), followed by Maharashtra (165), Madhya Pradesh (134), Jharkhand (133), Karnataka (120), Odisha (111), and Rajasthan (106). There are 88 posts in Andhra Pradesh, 65 in Tamil Nadu, 55 in West Bengal, 42 in Jammu & Kashmir, and 39 in Assam.

Graduation Required; Age Limit 20 to 28 Years

For this recruitment, candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates currently in their final year may also apply, provided they can furnish proof of completing their graduation by December 31, 2026. The age calculation will be based on April 1, 2026. Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age; this means the candidate's date of birth must fall between April 2, 1998, and April 1, 2006. Reserved categories will be granted relaxation in the upper age limit in accordance with SBI rules.

Selection via Prelims, Mains, and Language Test

The selection process for the SBI Clerk recruitment will consist of three stages: the Preliminary Examination, followed by the Main Examination, and a Local Language Proficiency Test (if required). The Preliminary Examination is likely to be held in September 2026, while the Main Examination may be conducted in October or November 2026. The Prelims will consist of objective-type questions totaling 100 marks, with a duration of one hour. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer. SBI has not prescribed minimum qualifying marks for individual sections in the Prelims; the marks obtained in the Prelims will be used solely to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.
