Himachal Pradesh Government Approves Over 4,200 New Jobs in Power, Revenue, Health, and Panchayati Raj Departments
Shimla, September 15, 2025 – In a major development for job seekers, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the recruitment of more than 4,200 government posts across multiple departments, including power, revenue, health, and Panchayati Raj. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, aimed at filling long-pending vacancies and improving public services across the state.
1,602 Power Consumer Mitras to Be Hired
The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited has been facing a severe shortage of staff, leading to service delays for consumers. To address this, the cabinet has approved the appointment of 1,602 "Power Consumer Mitras". These recruits will help strengthen the electricity board’s operations and ensure timely services for consumers.
In addition, the cabinet also gave a green signal to fill 1,000 posts of T/Mates (entry-level technical staff), which will further strengthen the power department.
Revenue Department to Recruit 645 Patwaris
For the Revenue Department, the government has cleared the recruitment of 645 Patwaris under the state cadre. These positions will be filled on a trainee basis and are expected to improve efficiency in land record management and related services.
Apprentices in Panchayati Raj Institutions
To empower local governance, the cabinet approved the hiring of 300 apprentices in different Gram Panchayats. They will receive a fixed monthly stipend and will be trained to provide support in Panchayati Raj institutions. The move is aimed at creating a pool of trained human resources to strengthen grassroots-level governance.
Major Boost for Healthcare Sector
The healthcare sector is also set to receive a significant boost with the approval of multiple recruitments:
-
200 Medical Officers to be appointed as apprentices across the state.
-
400 Staff Nurses to be recruited in medical colleges on an apprentice basis.
-
38 Assistant Professors to be hired in state medical colleges.
These measures are expected to enhance healthcare delivery and address staff shortages in hospitals and medical institutions.
Additional Approvals Across Departments
The cabinet also sanctioned the creation and filling of 25 new Steno-Typist posts in the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat. To strengthen policing along national highways, several essential posts in Solan district police stations have been approved.
In the Department of Environment, Science, Technology, and Climate Change, a restructuring plan has been cleared to improve efficiency. Following this, five new posts will be created and filled.
Reversal of Salary Notification After Employee Opposition
In another key decision, the cabinet withdrew the controversial 6 September salary notification, which had revised pay structures in a manner that could have caused losses of ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 per month for nearly 14,000 employees. The decision to roll back the notification came after widespread protests by state employees.
100 Schools to Be Affiliated With CBSE
Looking at the education sector, the government approved the affiliation of 100 government schools with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) starting from the next academic session. This step is expected to improve the quality of education and open better opportunities for students.
A Golden Opportunity for Job Seekers
With more than 4,200 vacancies announced across multiple departments, this recruitment drive is expected to bring relief to unemployed youth in Himachal Pradesh. The state government has assured that detailed recruitment notifications will be released soon by the respective departments, outlining eligibility criteria, application process, and selection procedures.
The large-scale hiring across power, revenue, health, Panchayati Raj, and other departments marks one of the biggest recruitment initiatives in the state in recent years. For aspiring candidates, this offers a golden opportunity to secure stable government jobs while also contributing to essential public services in Himachal Pradesh.
