RRB Technician Application Last Date Extended: Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has extended the last date to apply for 6238 posts of Technician till 7 August 2025. Technician Grade-I (Signal): 183 posts (Level-5)
Technician Grade-III: 6055 posts (Level-2)
Under this recruitment drive, candidates will be appointed in various zones of Indian Railways. The post of Technician Grade-I is of relatively high level, while Grade-III posts are available in greater numbers.
Eligibility for application
Two types of vacancies have been released under the RRB Technician Recruitment 2025. 183 posts for Technician Grade-I (Signal), in which B.Sc. (Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/Instrumentation) or B.E./B.Tech/A year of engineering diploma has been sought as eligibility. At the same time, 6055 posts are available for Technician Grade-III, in which the qualification should be 10th pass + ITI certificate or 12th pass with Physics and Maths.
Talking about the age limit, candidates between 18 and 33 years are eligible to apply for the Technician Grade-I post and 18 to 30 years for Technician Grade-III. Reserved categories will get an exemption as per the rules.
What will be the exam pattern?
According to the Technician Grade-I CBT exam pattern, a total of 100 questions will be asked, for which candidates will get 90 minutes to solve. The question paper will include 10 questions from General Awareness, 15 from General Intelligence and Reasoning, 20 from Basics of Computer and Applications, 20 from Maths, and 35 from Basic Science and Engineering. Each question will be worth 1 mark. To qualify for the exam, candidates of the unreserved category have to get 40%, OBC/SC 30% and ST category candidates have to get 25% marks.
Selection process and negative marking rule
Candidates will be selected in three stages in the RRB Technician Recruitment 2025. Firstly, a written test (CBT) will be conducted, followed by a medical test, and finally, document verification. There is a provision of negative marking in the CBT exam, in which one-third marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Application fee and refund policy rules
Candidates of the General, OBC, and EWS categories will have to pay an application fee of Rs 500, out of which Rs 400 will be refunded after appearing in the CBT-1 exam. At the same time, the application fee for SC, ST, Women, EBC, and Divyang categories is Rs 250, which will be refunded in full on appearing in CBT-1. Candidates have to pay the fee through online mode.
