RRB Recruitment: Section Controller exam dates announced, controversy over only 22,000 vacancies in Group D..
RRB Recruitment Notification: Two major news items are currently making headlines for young people dreaming of a job in the railways. On one hand, the exam date for the Section Controller recruitment has been announced, while on the other hand, candidates are quite disappointed and angry about the vacancies announced for Group D posts. Get all the details about both recruitments…
Section Controller Recruitment Exam Date
The Railway Recruitment Board has announced the date for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the recruitment of 368 Section Controller posts (CEN 04/2025). This exam will be held from February 11, 2026, to February 12, 2026. Candidates will be informed about their exam city approximately 10 days before the exam, while admit cards will be issued only 4 days before the exam. Applications for this recruitment were already accepted in October 2025. This is a Pay Level-6 post with an initial basic salary of Rs. 35,400 and a mandatory Medical Standard A2.
How will the selection be made?
The selection process will consist of a single-stage written examination, i.e., a single-stage CBT. This will be followed by a CBAT, document verification, and a medical test. The most important thing is that the CBT will only have questions from Mathematics and Reasoning. There will be no English or General Studies section. The exam will have a total of 100 questions to be solved in 120 minutes. 60 marks will be for Analytical and Mathematics, 20 marks for Logical Capability, and 20 marks for Mental Reasoning. 8 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the CBAT after clearing the CBT. Those preparing for the exam can now focus entirely on Mathematics and Reasoning.
Group D Recruitment: 22,000 Posts, but Candidates are Angry
The Railway Recruitment Board has released a short notification for the recruitment of 22,000 Group D posts. Applications for this recruitment will start from January 21, 2026, and will continue till February 20, 2026. Interested candidates can apply by visiting the website www.rrbapply.gov.in. Recruitments for NTPC Graduate and 12th level posts, ALP and Technician posts, and Isolated Category posts for the year 2025 have already been announced, so the wait for Group D vacancies was quite long. However, candidates are not at all happy with this new recruitment.
The reason is clear: more than 1.40 lakh Level-1 posts are lying vacant in the railways, but only 22,000 vacancies have been announced. Candidates are saying, "What will happen with such a small number of vacancies?" They are continuously running a campaign on the social media platform X (Twitter), demanding that the number of vacancies be increased to at least 1 lakh.
Update your Aadhaar before applying.
The RRB has advised candidates on short notice to verify their primary details with their Aadhaar card while filling out the online application. This will help avoid extra checks and delays at every stage of the recruitment process. The name and date of birth on the Aadhaar card should match exactly (100%) with the 10th standard certificate. Also, the photo, biometric fingerprints, and iris scan on the Aadhaar card should be up-to-date. Check all this before applying to avoid any problems later.
