The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), under the Ministry of Railways (Government of India), has announced recruitment for 9 different categories of paramedical staff. What are the application criteria?
Nursing Superintendent: Candidates must hold a B.Sc. in Nursing or a 3-year course in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized institution, along with a certificate as a Registered Nurse and Midwife.
Dialysis Technician: Candidates require a B.Sc. in Hemodialysis with a diploma, or 2 years of training/experience in the relevant field. A B.Sc. in Dialysis Technology is also acceptable.
Health & Malaria Inspector Grade II: Candidates must hold a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a 1-year diploma in Health/Sanitary Inspector or an NTC (National Trade Certificate) in the relevant trade from NCVT.
Audiologist and Speech Therapist: Candidates require a Bachelor's degree (BASLP) in Audiology or Speech-Language Pathology and registration with the RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India).
Pharmacist: A degree or doctorate in Pharmacy and registration as a pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, are mandatory.
Radiographer/X-ray Technician: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Chemistry and hold a 2-year diploma in Radiography/X-ray Technician/Radiodiagnosis.
ECG Technician: Candidates require a Class 12 pass (Science stream) or a Bachelor's degree, along with at least a 1-year certificate, diploma, or degree in ECG/Cardiology technology.
Optometrist: Candidates require a B.Sc. in Optometry or a 3-to-4-year diploma in Ophthalmic Technician, along with registration with the relevant council or licensing body. Lab Assistant Grade II: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Science subjects and possess at least a one-year diploma or equivalent certificate course in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT). A B.Sc. degree in Medical Lab Technology is also acceptable.
What are the age criteria?
Age will be calculated as of January 1, 2027. Depending on the specific post, the age limit ranges from 18 to 33 years or 20 to 40 years. The candidate's date of birth will be considered valid only as recorded in their Matriculation or SSLC certificate; no subsequent changes will be accepted.
What is the application fee?
For RRB CEN 05/2026, the application fee is ₹500 for General category candidates and ₹250 for candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minority, and EBC categories. Upon appearing for the CBT, a refund of ₹400 will be issued to General category candidates, while the full fee will be refunded to candidates from the other eligible categories. The refund amount will be processed after deducting applicable bank charges.
What is the selection process?
Selection for the RRB Paramedical recruitment will be based on a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV), and finally, a medical examination.
The CBT will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions.
The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes.
PwBD/PwD candidates eligible for the scribe facility will be allowed 120 minutes.
Each question will have four options, with only one being correct.
One-third (1/3) of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
