Now 10th class pass candidates or ITI diploma holders or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) holders provided by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) will also be eligible to apply for these posts.

Earlier, to apply for these posts, it was mandatory for the candidates to pass the 10th class examination as well as have an NCA or ITI diploma. The Railway Board informed about this change in a written message sent to all the zones on January 2. It said that the issue was reviewed and this new decision has been taken bypassing the earlier instructions.

According to the instructions issued by the board, from now onwards the minimum educational qualification for recruitment to all level-1 posts (including the upcoming CEN) will be 10th pass or ITI diploma or equivalent or NAC provided by NCVT.

Under Level-1 in Indian Railways, there are important posts like Assistant, Pointsman and Track Maintainer in various departments.

For this recruitment, Railway Recruitment Board has recently issued a notification. In which about 32,000 candidates will be recruited. The application process will run from 23 January to 22 February.
