Here is an important update for graduates preparing for government jobs in the Railways. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released an indicative notification for the recruitment of 3,477 posts under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Graduate Level category. This recruitment will be conducted under CEN 06/2026. The application process begins on October 8, 2026, and candidates can apply until 11:59 PM on November 6, 2026. **Which posts are included?**
Under this recruitment drive, appointments will be made for positions such as Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor, Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist, Senior Clerk-cum-Typist, and Traffic Assistant.
**Educational Qualification and Age Limit**
For the NTPC Graduate Level recruitment, candidates must hold a graduation degree from a recognized institution or university. The age limit is set between 18 and 33 years. Candidates belonging to SC and ST categories will receive a 5-year age relaxation, while OBC candidates will get a 3-year relaxation.
**Examinations: CBT-1 and CBT-2**
Based on the pattern of previous recruitment drives, the selection process will include CBT-1 and CBT-2. In CBT-1, 100 questions will be asked within a duration of 90 minutes; these will comprise 40 questions on General Awareness, 30 on Mathematics, and 30 on General Intelligence and Reasoning. CBT-2 will consist of 120 questions: 50 on General Awareness, 35 on Mathematics, and 35 on Reasoning. Negative marking of one-third of a mark will apply for incorrect answers in both examinations.
**Skill Test Required for Certain Posts**
A Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) will be conducted for the posts of Station Master and Traffic Assistant. Meanwhile, a Computer-Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) will be held for the posts of Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist and Senior Clerk-cum-Typist. This will be followed by document verification and a medical examination.
Application Fee and Group D Recruitment Update
The application fee for the General category is ₹500; ₹400 will be refunded upon appearing for CBT-1. For SC, ST, female, EBC, and PwD candidates, the fee is ₹250, which will be refunded upon appearing for the exam.
Additionally, preparations are underway for the recruitment of approximately 30,000 Level-1 (Group D) posts in the Railways. The notification for this is likely to be released in September-October. These posts may include roles such as Track Maintainer, Pointsman, Assistant (Signal & Telecom), and Assistant (Loco Shed).
