RRB JE Vacancy 2026: There is great news for holders of engineering diplomas and degrees who are preparing for government jobs in the Railways. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has initiated the application process for various posts, including Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent. A total of 3,993 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment drive. The application process for these posts began on August 14.

Recruitment for 3,993 Posts

The RRB JE Recruitment 2026 includes the posts of Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent. These positions are related to Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer, and other relevant engineering streams. Out of the total 3,993 vacancies, the category-wise breakdown is as follows: 1,699 posts for the General category, 624 for SC, 363 for ST, 913 for OBC, and 394 for EWS.

Qualification Requirements for Each Post

For the post of Junior Engineer, a 3-year diploma from a recognized institution in the relevant engineering discipline or a BE/B.Tech degree in the relevant stream is mandatory. For the post of Depot Material Superintendent, a three-year diploma in any engineering discipline is required. Candidates must have completed their educational qualifications by the application deadline, i.e., September 13, 2026. Candidates awaiting results for their final examinations are not eligible for this recruitment.

Age Limit: 18 to 33 Years

For the RRB JE recruitment, candidates must be between 18 and 33 years of age as of January 1, 2027. Age relaxation will be provided to reserved categories in accordance with government regulations. SC and ST candidates will receive a 5-year age relaxation, while OBC-NCL candidates will get a 3-year relaxation. Provisions for age relaxation also exist for other categories—such as PwBD, ex-servicemen, and railway employees—in accordance with the rules.

Note these dates

The detailed notification for RRB JE 2026 was released on August 13. Online applications commenced on August 14, and the deadline for submission is September 13, 2026. The last date to pay the application fee is September 15. Additionally, the application correction window will remain open from September 16 to September 25, 2026.

Selection via CBT

Candidates for the RRB JE recruitment will be selected through a two-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT). Subsequently, eligible candidates will undergo document verification and a medical examination. The dates for CBT-1 and CBT-2 have not yet been announced; however, the exams are expected to be held in December 2026. City intimation details will be released approximately 10 days prior to the exam date, and admit cards will be issued four days beforehand.
