Social media

A new ray of hope has emerged for young people preparing for government jobs in the railways. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is soon going to release the notification for Group D recruitment, which proposes appointments to 22,000 posts. However, candidates are not satisfied with the number of vacancies. The demand for increasing the number of vacancies has intensified on social media, and candidates are appealing for one lakh posts instead of 22,000. Meanwhile, several questions are also arising regarding eligibility, the selection process, and the distribution of posts.

Waiting for Group D Recruitment and Candidate Dissatisfaction
The Railway Recruitment Board has approved a total of 22,000 vacancies for 11 different posts in Group D (Level-1). It is expected that the application process may begin by the end of December or the first week of January. However, given the approximately 1.40 lakh Level-1 posts already vacant in the railways, candidates are disappointed with such a low number of vacancies. For this reason, demands for increasing the number of vacancies are being made on social media by tagging the Ministry of Railways, the Railway Minister, and the Prime Minister's Office.

Confusion Regarding Eligibility
There is also confusion regarding the eligibility criteria for this recruitment. Candidates want to know whether only 10th pass candidates will be eligible for all posts or whether an ITI certificate will be mandatory for some posts. There is also a question of whether 10th pass candidates will be able to apply for all posts or whether some posts will be reserved only for those with ITI certificates.

How Many Posts in Which Zone?
The highest number of posts in the new recruitment has been sanctioned in the Engineering department. There are approximately 11,000 posts for Track Maintainer Grade-4. In addition, 5,000 posts for Traffic Pointsman B, 1,500 for Assistant (S&T), 1,000 for Assistant (C&W), and other posts have also been distributed across various departments.

Age Limit and Selection Process
The age limit for application has been set at 18 to 36 years, with relaxations for reserved categories as per rules. The selection will be based on a Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), document verification, and medical examination.

CBT Pattern and Physical Test
The CBT will be 90 minutes long and will consist of 100 questions. One-third of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The standards for the physical test are different for male and female candidates.

Important Application Details
Candidates can apply to only one RRB (Railway Recruitment Board). Selected candidates will receive a salary of ₹18,000 under Level-1. The application fee for the general category is ₹500, of which ₹400 will be refunded upon appearing for the exam.
