RRB Group D Recruitment 2026: The short notification for Railway Group D recruitment has been released..
A major announcement regarding the RRB Group D recruitment has been made for millions of young people preparing for government jobs in the railways. The Railway Recruitment Board has released a short notification for the recruitment of 22,000 posts under Level-1. While candidates who have been waiting for this recruitment for a long time have received the application dates, there is also dissatisfaction regarding the number of vacancies. Furthermore, the lack of clarity regarding eligibility criteria has created confusion among the candidates.
Complete Information on Application and Vacancies
According to the short notification issued by the Railway Recruitment Board, the online application process for RRB Group D recruitment will begin on January 21, 2026, and will continue until February 20, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can apply on the official website rrbapply.gov.in.
Previously, the railways had released recruitment notifications for NTPC (12th and Graduate Level), ALP, Technician, and Isolated Posts. While this Group D recruitment offers hope to the waiting candidates, the number of 22,000 vacancies seems insufficient to them.
Details of Vacancies in the New Recruitment
Candidates say that there are approximately 1.40 lakh vacancies in Level-1 of the railways, and therefore, releasing only 22,000 vacancies is disappointing. The highest number of vacancies in the new recruitment is in the Engineering department. A total of 12,500 posts are in this department, of which 11,000 are for Track Maintainer Grade-4. Other posts include 5,000 for Traffic Pointsman B, 1,500 for Assistant (S&T), 1,000 for Assistant (C&W), and 500 for Assistant Operations, among others. 993 posts have been allocated to East Central Railway and 1,199 to South Eastern Railway.
Eligibility
The short notification does not clarify the educational qualifications required. This will only become clear after the detailed notification is released, which will specify whether a 10th pass or ITI qualification is required.
