The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released a new recruitment notification for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) posts. Through this recruitment process, a total of 11,127 vacancies will be filled across different Railway Zones nationwide. Candidates can begin applying online starting May 15, 2026, and the deadline for applications is June 14, 2026. To participate in this recruitment, candidates must visit the official Railway website, rrbapply.gov.in, to submit their applications; the entire application process is strictly online, and applications submitted via offline modes or email will not be accepted.
For the Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment in the Railways, candidates are required to register through the central recruitment portal. While filling out the form, candidates must select their preferred Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Following the selection process, the appointment will be made within the specific Railway Zone that the candidate selected at the time of application. Specific educational qualifications and age criteria have been prescribed for candidates applying for the Railway Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment. Accordingly, candidates must possess a 10th-grade pass certificate along with an ITI qualification, or a 10th-grade pass certificate combined with an Engineering Diploma, or a B.E./B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering stream. Regarding the age limit, candidates must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 30 years of age. However, in accordance with government regulations, candidates belonging to reserved categories—such as OBC, SC, ST, and Ex-Servicemen—will be granted relaxation in the upper age limit. The age of candidates will be calculated as of July 1, 2026.
The application fee for the Railway Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment has been determined based on the candidate's category. Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories are required to deposit ₹500 at the time of application, whereas for SC, ST, and Divyang (differently-abled) candidates, this fee is ₹250. Furthermore, upon appearing for the CBT 1 examination, ₹400 will be refunded to candidates from the General, OBC, and EWS categories, while the full fee amount will be refunded to SC/ST/Divyang candidates.
In the Railway Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment process, candidates are selected based on a multi-stage procedure. This process begins with the CBT 1 examination, followed by the CBT 2 examination, which comprises questions of both general and technical nature. Subsequently, candidates participate in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). This is followed by document verification and medical examinations. Candidates are eligible to proceed to the next stage only after successfully qualifying in each preceding stage. The final selection will be determined based on the final merit list.
