Territorial Army Selection Process 2026: A significant opportunity has emerged for those aspiring to serve the nation. The 137th Ecological Task Force Battalion (Territorial Army), 39 Gorkha Rifles, has announced a recruitment rally for the year 2026. **When Does the Recruitment Begin?**
This recruitment rally will be conducted in multiple phases, commencing on May 5th and concluding on May 23rd. The first phase of the rally will take place in Bengdubi, West Bengal, from May 5th to May 8th. The second phase will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, from May 13th to May 16th, and the third and final phase will take place in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from May 20th to May 23rd. All candidates are required to report by 7:00 AM.
The vacancies under this recruitment drive include 7 posts for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO - GD), 143 posts for Soldiers (GD), 3 posts for Soldier Clerks, 2 posts for Chefs, 1 post for a Tailor, 3 posts for Housekeepers, and 1 post each for a Washerman and a Dresser.
**Who Can Apply?**
Candidates eligible for this recruitment are those who have previously served in the Army, or those who have worked for a minimum of 20 years with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, or a State Forest Department.
The age limit for candidates has been determined based on their retirement status. For the JCO post, the maximum age limit for a candidate is set at 55 years, while for other ranks, the maximum age is fixed at 50 years. Additionally, candidates must possess a medical category of SHAPE-1.
The recruitment process will be conducted in a strictly phased manner, beginning with a physical test. This test includes a one-mile run, pull-ups, a ditch jump, and a balance test. Following this, candidates will be required to undergo a proficiency test relevant to their specific trade. Candidates who successfully clear these stages will undergo a medical examination, followed by a final interview.
**Salary and Benefits**
In terms of remuneration and allowances, selected candidates will be provided with a basic salary commensurate with their rank and service group. Additionally, they will receive Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Children's Education Allowance, and other facilities. However, while this service does not offer benefits such as a pension, gratuity, or annual increments, any existing pension currently being received by the candidate will remain unaffected.
To participate in the recruitment rally, candidates must bring along all necessary documents, such as their Discharge Book, Pension Payment Order (PPO), passport-sized color photographs, educational certificates, and Domicile Certificate. The recruitment process is entirely free of cost.
