Bihar Young Professional Program: The Government of Bihar is now fully prepared to forge ahead in the fields of Science and Technology, infused with fresh energy and a modern mindset. The State’s Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education has launched a remarkable initiative—titled the ‘Young Professional Selection Policy 2026’—aimed at integrating Bihar’s talented youth into government schemes and major developmental projects.
The introduction of this new policy will not only provide young graduates with the opportunity to work within the government machinery but also offer them the chance to participate directly in the development of Bihar. Let us explore the various benefits that young individuals stand to gain from this initiative (the Bihar Young Professional Program).
Bihar Young Professional Program: Why Was This New Policy Needed?
We live in an era defined by ‘Digital India,’ Artificial Intelligence (AI), and startups. The Government of Bihar firmly believes that, in order to effectively navigate the challenges of this rapidly evolving digital landscape, government institutions require young professionals who possess a deep understanding of modern technologies. It is with this vision that the policy has been formulated—to entrust fresh, trained graduates emerging from colleges with the responsibility of accelerating research, innovation, and technical operations.
Recruitment to be Conducted Across Three Distinct Categories
Under this policy, the government intends to provide opportunities to young professionals across three distinct levels. Specific eligibility criteria have been established for each category:
Young Professional-I: This level is designated for students who have completed a Diploma from a Polytechnic or a technical institute. To qualify for this position, candidates must have secured a minimum of 75% marks in their Diploma program.
Young Professional-II: Candidates holding a B.Tech degree are eligible to apply under this category. A minimum aggregate score of 60% in the B.Tech program is a mandatory requirement. Additionally, possession of a valid GATE score—obtained within the last three years—is also compulsory. Young Professional-III: This constitutes the highest tier, offering opportunities to young individuals holding an M.Tech degree. Eligibility for this level requires a minimum aggregate score of 60% in M.Tech, and their admission into the M.Tech program must have been secured solely on the basis of a valid GATE score.
Duration of Employment and Governing Rules
If you are selected under this policy (the Bihar Young Professional Program), your initial tenure will be for a period of two years. However, should your performance be exceptional and the department deems your continued services necessary, this engagement may be extended for an additional year. Furthermore, throughout this entire recruitment process, the Bihar Government’s Reservation Policy will be strictly adhered to, ensuring that young individuals from every social category receive equal opportunities.
