Recruitment in the Railways under the sports quota; selection will take place without a written examination..
South East Railway offers an opportunity for sportspersons to secure government jobs. The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) has announced the recruitment of 54 positions under the sports quota for the year 2026-27. These vacancies fall under various levels within Group C and Group D categories. A key feature of this recruitment is that candidates are not required to take a written examination; instead, the selection process will be based on sports trials, achievements in sports, and educational qualifications. Interested and eligible sportspersons may apply by visiting the official website.
How many positions are available?
A total of 54 positions are to be filled. This includes 5 positions in Group C (Level 4 and Level 5), for which candidates must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university.
There are 16 positions in Group C (Level 2 and Level 3), open to candidates who have passed the 12th grade. Additionally, those who have passed the 10th grade and completed an ITI course or an apprenticeship are also eligible.
Furthermore, there are 33 positions in Group D (Level 1), for which a 10th-grade pass, or an ITI qualification along with an NAC (National Apprenticeship Certificate), is required.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible, candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as of January 1, 2027. A specific condition for this recruitment is that no age relaxation will be granted to candidates from any category; the same age limit applies to all applicants. Additionally, candidates must possess valid certificates documenting their sports achievements. These certificates must be dated April 1, 2024, or later; certificates issued prior to this date will not meet the specified requirements.
How will the selection take place without an examination?
In this recruitment process, candidates will be selected based on a 100-mark evaluation system, rather than through a written examination. The highest weightage is assigned to sports achievements. A total of 40 marks are allocated for sports trials and on-field performance, with a minimum of 25 marks required to qualify. Another 50 marks are designated for recognized sports achievements, while 10 marks are awarded for the candidate's academic qualifications. Candidates will be evaluated based on a combined score from these three areas: sports trials, sports achievements, and academic qualifications.
What is the application fee?
Candidates from the General and OBC categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹500. However, ₹400 will be refunded after the candidate participates in the sports trial, bringing the net application cost for these candidates to ₹100. Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, female, minority, and Economically Backward Class (EBC) categories must pay a fee of ₹250; this entire amount will be refunded after they participate in the sports trial. Candidates should verify the fee applicable to their specific category before applying.
