Recruitment for 1,200 Station Master posts to be held; RRB takes a major step..
RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026: There is a major update for those awaiting the recruitment of Railway Station Masters. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has entrusted RRB Ajmer with the responsibility of conducting the Station Master recruitment examination. This is considered a significant step toward the issuance of the official notification for the 2026 Station Master recruitment. Notably, this is the first time that the Station Master recruitment examination will be held separately.
Previously, Station Master recruitment was conducted under the RRB NTPC (Undergraduate) category. However, the Station Master post has been removed from the RRB NTPC (Undergraduate) recruitment process this year. Reports suggest that the Railways may issue an advertisement this month to fill over 1,200 vacant Station Master positions.
According to a report by *Dainik Bhaskar*, Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman of the Railway Recruitment Board, Ajmer, stated that the recruitment advertisement is likely to be released this month, with the number of Station Master vacancies potentially exceeding 1,200. The Ajmer Board has previously conducted Railway Group B recruitment examinations.
Railway Recruitment Board Revises Minimum Age Limit
The Railway Recruitment Board has modified the minimum age limit for the Station Master post, increasing it from 18 to 20 years. There has been no change to the maximum age limit, which remains 30 years.
Selection Process to Consist of a Single Stage
For the 2026 Station Master recruitment, the Railway Recruitment Board has decided to issue a separate Centralized Employment Notification and has eliminated the two-stage written examination process. Instead of CBT-1 and CBT-2, candidates will now face only a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT). Under this new system, the written examination will carry 100 marks, with a duration of two hours. The test will include questions worth 60 marks on Basic Science, Mathematics, and Data Analysis; 20 marks on Logical Capability; and 20 marks on Mental Reasoning. Based on the written examination, candidates numbering eight times the available vacancies will be called for a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
The final merit list will be prepared by combining 70% of the marks from the written examination and 30% from the CBAT. Subsequently, candidates will be called for document verification and a medical examination in a 1:1 ratio. Candidates with a graduate qualification are eligible to apply. The post carries a pay scale of Level-6, and the medical standard required is A-2.
