Recruitment for 1,200 Railway Station Master Posts; RRB Ajmer Entrusted with Responsibility for the First Time
For the first time, the responsibility of conducting the recruitment examination for Station Masters has been assigned to the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Ajmer. The board is expected to issue an official notification for the recruitment of over 1,200 Station Masters this month.
This is a significant update for candidates seeking employment with the Railways. RRB Ajmer has been tasked with overseeing the Station Master recruitment process—a responsibility it has been given for the first time. According to reports, the board is likely to release an official recruitment advertisement for more than 1,200 Station Master positions this month. Notably, this marks the first instance where the recruitment examination for Station Masters will be conducted separately; previously, such recruitment was carried out under the RRB NTPC (Undergraduate) category, but the rules have been amended this year.
There are currently 21 Railway Recruitment Boards operating across the country. Consequently, examining candidates associated with all 21 boards is a major responsibility for RRB Ajmer. It is estimated that over 2.5 million (25 lakh) candidates may participate in this recruitment drive. Furthermore, according to Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman of RRB Ajmer, the notification for this recruitment—which covers over 1,200 'Group C' posts—is expected to be released this month.
Examination Likely to be Computer-Based
According to the Railway Recruitment Board, the upcoming recruitment examination for Station Masters may be conducted in a single phase, rather than the usual two-phase format. Some reports suggest that the traditional written examination has been replaced; instead of separate CBT-1 and CBT-2 stages, candidates will now appear for a single, computer-based examination. It is understood that the written examination will carry 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours. The test will consist of questions worth 60 marks covering Basic Science, Mathematics, and Data Analysis; 20 marks for Logical Capability; and 20 marks for Mental Reasoning. Furthermore, it has been indicated that, based on the results of this written examination, candidates numbering eight times the total number of vacancies will be called for a computer-based aptitude test.
Who is eligible to apply?
Regarding the recruitment for Railway Station Masters, it has been specified that candidates holding a graduation degree are eligible to apply. Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-6 and must meet the A-2 medical standard. The basic salary will be ₹35,400. The selection process assigns a 70% weightage to this examination and a 30% weightage to the computer-based aptitude test (CBT).
