Rajasthan Senior Teacher Recruitment Exam begins July 12; RPSC reduces vacancies—recruitment will now be for 9,651 posts..
RPSC Teacher Recruitment: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has issued a major update regarding the Senior Teacher (Secondary Education) recruitment examination scheduled for 2026. The Commission has clarified that the exam will be conducted from July 12 to July 18, 2026, in accordance with the previously announced schedule. Despite petitions seeking the postponement of the exam or the reopening of the application process, the Commission has stated that preparations are complete and there will be no changes to the fixed schedule. Consequently, over 1.25 million (12.30 lakh) candidates will appear for the exam on the scheduled dates.
Meanwhile, the Commission has issued Corrigendum No. 11/2026-27, revising the number of vacancies for the recruitment. Although the number of Senior Teacher posts had previously been increased to 10,537, the total number of posts has now been fixed at 9,651 in compliance with the rules. According to the Commission, recruitment rules permit an increase of up to a maximum of 50 percent over the originally advertised posts; the revision in the number of vacancies has been made under this provision.
What did the Commission state in the High Court?
The Commission presented its stance during the hearing of petitions in the Jaipur High Court that sought the postponement of the recruitment exam and the reopening of application forms. The Commission informed the Court that the recruitment process is being conducted strictly in accordance with the rules and that any increase in posts must remain within the prescribed limits. It was for this reason that the revised number of vacancies was issued.
Subject-wise vacancy details released
RPSC has also released the details of revised subject-wise vacancies. However, the category-wise classification of posts will be issued separately. The Commission clarified that all other terms and conditions of the recruitment advertisement—including eligibility criteria, age limits, the examination scheme, and the selection process—remain unchanged. Only the number of posts has been revised. Candidates appearing for the exam are advised to regularly check the latest notifications and exam-related instructions on the Commission's official website. Details regarding exam centers, admit cards, and other important information will also be released in due course.
