Railway Bharti: Recruitment of officers in the Railways will once again be done through UPSC Civil Services Examination and Engineering Services Examination. The government has taken this U-turn due to not getting enough technical manpower through the Indian Railway Management Service. Let us tell you that the Central Government approved the Integrated Railway Service in the year 2019. Recruitment to higher posts in the Railways was to be done through the Railway Management Service (IRMS) instead of UPSC.

According to a report in the Times of India, on Saturday, the Department of Personnel and Training said in a memorandum that considering the proposal of the Ministry of Railways, the Department of Personnel and Training has given in-principle approval for recruitment through the UPSC Civil Services Examination and Engineering Services Examination, keeping in mind the needs of both technical and non-technical manpower.

The Ministry of Telecommunications will notify the rules.
After discussions with the Department of Personnel and Training, the Railways wrote to the UPSC Chairman and the Department of Telecom on Saturday that it has been decided to get the recruitment of officers through IRMS done through the Civil Services Examination and Engineering Service. It has also been said that the Ministry of Telecommunications will be the nodal ministry for engineering services. It will notify the rules for this and will seek applications by October 8. The Ministry of Telecom and UPSC have also been requested to allow UPSC to participate by adding the recruitment of 225 engineers to the existing notification.

Return to the old system.
According to the letter, now the new recruitment will be called IRMS Civil, IRMS Mechanical, Electrical, S&T, and IRMS Stores. At the same time, railway officials say that this decision is nothing but just a return to the old system.
