Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Bumper Vacancies for Apprentices in the Railways—10th Pass Candidates, Apply Immediately..
The railway sector offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain work experience through apprenticeships. Currently, Apprenticeship India has announced a recruitment drive for "Act Apprentices" under the South East Central Railway (SECR)—specifically for the Nagpur Division and the Motibagh Workshop—and the online application process for this has already commenced. Under this recruitment campaign for the 2026-27 session, a total of 1,079 apprentices will be recruited across various trades. The South East Central Railway issued the official notification on May 19, and the application process was initiated on the very same day. Interested candidates may submit their applications online until June 18, 2026.
According to the notification, the Railway Authority will accept applications exclusively through the online mode. While filling out the application form, candidates are required to select one of the two options: the Nagpur Division or the Motibagh Workshop. Railway officials have advised applicants to carefully enter their Class 10th and ITI marks before submitting the form. Selected candidates will undergo a one-year apprenticeship training program.
What are the Eligibility Criteria?
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 10th from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate of 50 percent marks. Additionally, applicants must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade.
Age Limit: As of May 19, 2026, applicants must be between 15 and 24 years of age. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted relaxation in the upper age limit in accordance with government regulations.
How to Apply?
Candidates can complete the registration process through the official apprenticeship portal before June 18, 2026. As per the notification, SECR will recruit apprentices under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961, and the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992. Railway officials have advised candidates to complete their application process well before the deadline to avoid facing technical glitches during the final days of registration.
What is the Selection Process?
SECR will prepare a merit list based on the marks obtained in the Matriculation and ITI examinations in the relevant trade. Only those candidates who have secured an aggregate of at least 50 percent marks in Class 10 and also possess an ITI qualification will be included in the merit list. In the event of a tie in marks between two candidates, preference will be given to the older candidate; if their ages are also identical, preference will be accorded to the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier.
