To address the shortage of teachers and other academic staff in government colleges across Chhattisgarh, the Department of Higher Education has initiated a new recruitment process. Positions to be Filled
Appointments for various positions will be made under this recruitment process. According to the information submitted by the department, the details of the vacancies are as follows:
Assistant Professor: 625 posts
Librarian: 50 posts
Sports Officer: 25 posts
Combining all these categories, a total of 700 vacancies will be filled.
Need for Assistant Professors Across Multiple Subjects
Assistant Professors will be recruited for various disciplines across government colleges. This includes 50 vacancies each for Hindi, English, and Political Science. Additionally, 50 vacancies each will be filled in Sociology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
Regarding other subjects, 25 vacancies each have been allocated for History, Geography, and Economics. Furthermore, appointments will be made for 75 vacancies in Commerce, 15 in Computer Applications, and 10 in Law.
Information Submitted to the Commission
According to the Department of Higher Education, the reservation roster and the subject-wise list of vacancies for all positions have been finalized. On February 24, 2026, the department forwarded all relevant details regarding the recruitment to the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, thereby enabling the commencement of the subsequent stages of the process.
When Will the Official Notification Be Issued?
The department has also submitted details regarding educational qualifications, recruitment rules, category-wise vacancy distribution, and the examination syllabus to the Commission. The Commission is now expected to issue the official recruitment notification shortly. Once the notification is released, eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications. The completion of this recruitment process will alleviate the shortage of teachers in the state's government colleges, enabling students to benefit from a better education.
