Police Recruitment for Over 140 SI Posts Announced, Salary Up to Rs. 70,000, Check Eligibility Here

The police department has released a recruitment notification for over 140 Sub-Inspector (SI) posts. Selected candidates will receive a salary of up to Rs. 70,000. You can apply through this process.

If you dream of becoming a police officer, the 2025 Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment is a golden opportunity for you. This recruitment drive will provide young people with the chance to secure a well-paying government job.

A total of 147 posts will be filled under this recruitment campaign. The recruitment is being conducted for the Police, Fire Service, and Jail departments, with different posts allocated to each.

There are 48 SI posts in the Assam Police, 4 posts in the Assam Police Radio Organisation (APRO), 6 Station Officers and 5 Squad Commander posts in the Fire and Emergency Services.  Additionally, there are 39 Assistant Jailer posts in the Jail department.

According to the official website, the application process starts today. Interested and eligible candidates can apply until January 16, 2026.

For SI (Unarmed/Armed) posts, a graduation degree is required. For SI (Communication), a B.Sc. in Electronics, IT, or Computer Science is mandatory. For Station Officer and Squad Commander posts, a B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is required. For Assistant Jailer posts, a general graduation degree is acceptable.

As of January 1, 2026, the age limit for most SI posts is 20 to 26 years. The upper age limit is lower for some technical and fire service positions. The maximum age for the Assistant Jailer post is 40 years, with relaxations as per rules.
