PGCIL: Apprenticeship opportunity at the state-owned power company; monthly stipend of up to ₹17,500—who can apply?
POWERGRID Apprentice 2026: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has invited applications for a one-year apprenticeship training program. This recruitment drive covers candidates at the ITI, Diploma, and Graduate levels across Northern Region-I and Northern Region-II. A total of 59 vacancies will be filled across these two regions. The online application process begins on August 25, 2026, and interested candidates can apply until September 10, 2026.
Stipend based on qualifications:
PowerGrid has fixed different stipend amounts for ITI, Diploma, and Graduate levels.

The stipend includes a contribution under the Government of India's National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). This contribution is ₹6,150 for Graduates and ₹5,450 for Diploma holders.
If shared bachelor accommodation is not provided by PowerGrid, trainees will receive an additional HRA of ₹2,500 per month.
Who can apply and who is ineligible?
The candidate's final examination result must have been declared between September 11, 2024, and September 10, 2026. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
For eligibility purposes, the result declaration date mentioned on the marksheet will be considered; the date of the convocation ceremony or the certificate issuance date will not be used as the basis.
Some important conditions are as follows:
The final result must not be pending at the time of application. The candidate must not have previously undergone an apprenticeship at any organization for any duration.
Candidates should not have more than one year of professional work experience.
Applications cannot be submitted for more than one region, state, or trade.

How will the selection take place? Is there an exam?
There is no application fee, written exam, or interview for this apprenticeship.
A merit list of candidates will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in their final ITI, Diploma, or Degree qualification.
The percentage stated in the consolidated marksheet will be considered for this purpose; marks from individual semesters will not form the basis for ranking.
Five candidates will be called for document verification for every single available seat.
No travel allowance or daily allowance will be provided to candidates attending document verification.
How much leave is allowed during the training?
The apprenticeship duration is one year. Leave will be granted on a pro-rata basis.

Trainees must also maintain a weekly work diary and submit it via the apprenticeship portal.
Depending on requirements, the company may send the trainee to another station within the same state for on-the-job training or to meet organizational needs.
How to apply?
The application process consists of two stages.
First, candidates must register and complete their profile on the relevant government apprenticeship portal. ITI candidates must register on the Apprenticeship India portal under NAPS.
Degree and diploma candidates must register on the NATS portal.
Subsequently, they must apply by visiting the PowerGrid website and navigating to Careers > Engagement of Apprentices > Online Application.
