Opportunity for a government job in the Railways with a salary of up to ₹29,200; application deadline is July 29

The Railways has announced recruitment for the posts of Technician Grade-I and Technician Grade-III. The last date to apply for these positions is July 29.

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has initiated the application process for a total of 6,557 vacancies across the Technician Grade-I and Technician Grade-III categories. Applications opened on June 30, and interested candidates can apply online until July 29, 2026. Consequently, candidates have very little time left.

A major highlight of this recruitment drive is the attractive salary package. Selected candidates will receive a good starting salary based on the post. Those selected for the Technician Grade-I post will receive a starting salary of ₹29,200 per month, while those selected for Technician Grade-III will receive a starting salary of ₹19,900 per month. Additionally, benefits regarding other railway allowances will also be provided.

A total of 6,557 vacancies will be filled under this recruitment drive. Of these, 323 posts are designated for Technician Grade-I and 6,234 posts for Technician Grade-III. This is considered one of the major recruitment drives of the year for young people seeking permanent employment in the Railways.

Who can apply?

Regarding eligibility, candidates applying for the Technician Grade-III post must have passed the 10th standard. Additionally, specific technical qualifications or engineering-related educational credentials relevant to the respective posts are required. The age limit is set at 18 to 33 years for Grade-I and 18 to 30 years for Grade-III. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive age relaxation in accordance with government regulations; a relaxation of five years is granted to SC and ST categories, and three years to the OBC category.

How will the selection take place?

Candidates will be selected through a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The examination will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions covering General Awareness, Mathematics, Reasoning, General Intelligence, and Computer-related topics. The exam carries a total of 100 marks, and a negative marking scheme of one-third of a mark per incorrect answer will apply.

Important Dates

Candidates intending to apply must take note of the important dates. The deadline for online applications is July 29, 2026. The application fee can be submitted until July 31. Should there be any errors in the application form, an opportunity to make corrections will be provided from August 1 to August 10, 2026.
