Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar said on Monday that appointments would soon be made through the Teacher Recruitment Exam-4 (TRE-4). He said that 1.70 lakh teachers were appointed in TRE-1 and 70,000 in TRE-2. However, in TRE-3, only a few of the 87,774 vacancies were filled. Kumar said, "We will finalize the TRE-4 appointments soon. The roster clearance and requisition for TRE-4 will be sent to the BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) by January 15-20." It is worth noting that before the Bihar Assembly elections, several protests took place in the state due to the incomplete filling of a section of posts allotted under TRE-3.

Protests against bonus marks
According to a statement issued by the Education Department, requisitions have also been sent to the BPSC for the recruitment of 935 Assistant Education Development Officers and 7,279 teachers for special schools. Meanwhile, engineering job candidates protested outside the multi-story Secretariat building in Patna against the provision of bonus marks for contractual employees.

One protester said, "In the BPSC AE (Assistant Engineer) recruitment exam, eligible contractual employees are given 133 bonus marks out of a 400-mark exam paper. This provision does not give freshers a fair chance." The protesters appealed to the government to repeal this "black law."  In Bihar, contractual employees receive bonus marks for their experience in several competitive exams.
