WhatsApp is set to introduce an ‘App Update’ section for its Mac users. This section will display the latest updates and allow users to choose between receiving them daily or weekly.

WhatsApp frequently updates its platform to enhance user convenience. As part of this ongoing effort, the company is introducing a new feature for Mac users that lets them decide whether to receive beta updates daily or once a week. Notably, WhatsApp had previously discontinued its beta testing program for Mac earlier this year.

New Section Introduced

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company has relaunched the beta testing program for Mac users. They will now find a dedicated ‘App Update’ section within the settings page, where the latest beta updates will be listed. This section includes an option for the ‘Latest Version’; selecting this ensures users receive beta updates daily. However, these updates may contain bugs.

A ‘Stable Weekly’ version will also be available; selecting this option means users receive updates once a week. Features included in this update will be completely bug-free. These updates are typically released before the weekend, effectively eliminating the likelihood of unexpected updates.

The report notes that while both features serve a similar purpose, users can choose the option that best suits their needs. Those who prefer daily updates can select the ‘Latest Version’ option, while those who prefer weekly updates can choose the ‘Stable Weekly’ option.

Availability

WhatsApp’s new update section is currently available to select users and is being rolled out gradually to everyone. It will become available to all users in the coming days.

Feature Added Last Year

Last year, the instant messaging app WhatsApp released the ‘About’ feature for its users. This feature functions similarly to Instagram Notes, allowing users to post short text updates and share them on the platform, much like a status update. This status appears on the profile page and in personal chats. The company believes that this feature will enhance the user experience. The status will automatically disappear after 24 hours.
