Government Internship for Women: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has announced its internship plan for 2026. This program is specifically designed for women living in non-Tier-I cities and rural areas, so that women from smaller and less developed regions of the country can gain a closer understanding of government schemes and become part of the policy-making process. What is an internship and its purpose?
This internship is for two months and is called the WCD Internship. During this period, selected women will have the opportunity to understand and contribute to the Ministry's various schemes, policies, and grassroots programs. Often, the Ministry works in areas where understanding ground realities is crucial. Therefore, interns may be assigned pilot projects or micro-studies, i.e., small research assignments on a specific program. This program both helps participants learn and provides useful information to the Ministry.

Which women are eligible for this opportunity?

This scheme is open to women between the ages of 21 and 40. It includes students, researchers, teachers, and women involved in social work. It is important to note that only women living in non-Tier-I cities and rural areas are eligible to apply. The aim is to ensure that talented women from smaller towns and villages can access opportunities that are typically accessible to women in larger cities.

Financial Support and Accommodation
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 to enable them to participate in the program without financial stress. Furthermore, their travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Ministry, and hostel accommodation will be available for their stay in Delhi during the internship. This will eliminate any accommodation issues for women coming from outside.

Once selected, they will not be able to apply again.
The Ministry has clearly stated that women selected for the February-March 2026 batch will not be able to reapply for any other batch of this program in the future. The aim is to provide opportunities to new talent every year.
