There is good news for candidates who have passed the 10th standard and are preparing for government jobs. The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board, Bhopal, has issued a notification for the Police Constable (Driver) Direct Recruitment Examination 2026 for the Home (Police) Department. A total of 1,000 posts will be filled through this recruitment drive. These include 200 posts in the Special Armed Force and 800 posts in the District Police Force. Applications will be submitted online. The examination is tentatively scheduled to begin on January 4, 2027.

Of the 200 Special Armed Force posts, 150 are for the unreserved category, 20 for ex-servicemen, and 30 for Home Guards. The 800 District Police Force posts comprise 600 for the unreserved category, 80 for ex-servicemen, and 120 for Home Guards.

Who can apply?
Candidates belonging to the General, Scheduled Caste (SC), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories must have passed the 10th standard.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category can apply if they have passed the 8th standard.
Additionally, candidates must possess a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving license.
The selection process will also include a practical driving test, which must be passed.

What is the required age?
The minimum age for candidates is 18 years. Age will be calculated as of October 29, 2026.
The maximum age limit is 33 years for male candidates belonging to the General category of Madhya Pradesh, the EWS category, and candidates from other states.

Male candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) of Madhya Pradesh are eligible to apply up to the age of 38, inclusive of age relaxation.

What are the rules for candidates from other states?
Candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can apply only for unreserved (open) posts.
They will not be entitled to the reservation benefits or age-related concessions available to reserved categories in Madhya Pradesh.

What is the salary?
The pay scale for the post of Constable (Driver) is set at ₹19,500 to ₹62,000. During the initial three years, a stipend amounting to 70%, 80%, and 90% of the minimum pay scale will be paid respectively, in accordance with prescribed rules. Additionally, other allowances will apply as per government regulations.

How many questions will be in the written exam?
The written exam will be conducted online. It will consist of 100 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

The exam questions will be in Hindi, and the difficulty level will correspond to the 8th-grade standard.

What happens after the written exam?
Following the written exam, candidates up to seven times the number of advertised posts will be called for the next stage, based on the prescribed cut-off. This will be followed by a Physical Efficiency Test, document verification, and a practical driving test.

How are marks awarded for the 800-meter race?
The Physical Efficiency Test will carry a total of 40 marks.
It includes an 800-meter race, and candidates will be given a single opportunity to complete the run. The practical driving test will be qualifying in nature.

Final selection will be based on the written examination marks, physical efficiency test, practical test, document verification, and fulfillment of other prescribed eligibility criteria.

What are the physical standards?
Physical standards vary according to the force and category. For instance, in the District Police Force, the minimum height requirement for male candidates belonging to General, SC, and OBC categories is 168 cm, with a chest measurement of 81–86 cm. For the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, the height requirement is 160 cm, and the chest measurement is 76–81 cm.

Different standards have also been prescribed for various categories within the Special Armed Forces. Candidates should consult the rulebook for the specific standards applicable to their category before applying.
