Massive Teacher Recruitment Drive in UP: UPESSC to Soon Issue Notification for 60,000 Posts
There is good news for candidates awaiting teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of teaching positions are set to be filled across the state soon. Let’s look at the details...
The e-requisition portal of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has become operational, effectively clearing the path for the recruitment of over 60,000 teachers in the state's government schools.
The state's Basic Education Department has instructed Basic Education Officers (BSAs) from all districts to upload comprehensive details regarding vacant teaching posts in their respective districts onto the portal. Once this process is complete, further steps regarding the recruitment drive can commence. It is understood that the department is working rapidly to fill these long-vacant positions.
According to reports, there are approximately 60,000 vacant teaching posts across the state. Of these, 11,508 posts are in urban schools, while around 48,000 posts are vacant in rural schools. Information regarding vacancies in urban areas has already been submitted to the Commission by the department, and data for rural posts is currently being uploaded to the portal. A significant highlight of this drive is that teacher recruitment in rural areas is taking place after a very long time.
What is the age limit?
Regarding the age limit, candidates must be at least 21 years old to apply. The proposed upper age limit is 40 years. Candidates belonging to OBC, SC, and ST categories, as well as female candidates who are natives of Uttar Pradesh, will be granted a relaxation of up to five years in the upper age limit. This will provide an opportunity for a large number of candidates to apply.
What will the exam pattern be like?
Key information regarding the exam pattern has also emerged. According to sources, there may be some changes to the recruitment exam this time. The exam is likely to be objective, or MCQ-based. Candidates will be presented with four options for each question and will have to select the correct one. The duration of the exam is expected to be approximately two hours. It is reported that the examination could be held by September 2026; however, official confirmation will only be available once the recruitment notification is issued.
Digital Record to be Created
Special emphasis is also being placed on ensuring complete transparency in the recruitment process. A digital record of all vacancies will be maintained via the e-requisition portal, ensuring clarity regarding the exact number of posts and their status. This will enhance transparency in the recruitment process and minimize the likelihood of any irregularities.
