Massive Recruitment Drive for 828 Principal and Vice-Principal Posts in Delhi Government Schools; Apply by August 14

There are 828 vacant posts for Principals and Vice-Principals in Delhi government schools. This information was revealed in a recent recruitment advertisement issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The Directorate of Education (DOE) manages approximately 1,090 government schools. According to a circular issued by the DOE, out of the total 828 posts to be filled via direct recruitment, 124 are for Principals and 704 are for Vice-Principals.

The circular states that applications for the direct recruitment of these 124 Principals and 704 Vice-Principals are invited from July 25 to August 14. According to the 'Principal and Vice-Principal Government School Association,' there are 950 sanctioned posts for Principals and 1,670 for Vice-Principals in Delhi government schools.

How to Apply?

Candidates aspiring to be appointed to the posts of Principal and Vice-Principal can successfully submit their registration forms by visiting the official UPSC website on or before 6:00 PM on the specified deadline. While filling out the form, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online based on their category; the fee is set at ₹25 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PWBD, and female candidates are exempted from the registration fee.

Qualifications-

• Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree and a Master's degree from a recognized institution or university.
• For the post of Principal, candidates must have 10 years of teaching experience (as a Vice-Principal, Post Graduate Teacher, or Trained Graduate Teacher) in a recognized High School, Higher Secondary School, Senior Secondary School, or Intermediate College. For the post of Vice-Principal, candidates must possess two years of experience as a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) or three years of experience as a Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT).
• The maximum age limit is set at 50 years for the post of Principal and 35 years for the post of Vice-Principal; this will be calculated based on the application deadline.
• Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted relaxation in the maximum age limit as per regulations. However, no candidate's age should exceed 56 years.

Selection Process

Eligible candidates will be selected through a direct recruitment drive comprising a pen-and-paper-based Combined Recruitment Test (CRT), shortlisting, and an interview. Following selection, the salary for the Principal post will be in accordance with Pay Matrix Level 12 (7th CPC), and the salary for the Vice-Principal post will be in accordance with Pay Matrix Level 10 (7th CPC).
