**Recruitment for Over 800 Posts**
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated direct recruitment for a total of 828 posts—comprising 124 Principal and 704 Vice-Principal positions—in Delhi government schools. Online applications for these posts were invited between July 25 and August 14. Guest teachers faced difficulties regarding the application and recruitment process due to certain conditions, prompting them to approach CAT.

A CAT bench comprising Judicial Member Manish Garg and Administrative Member Dr. Anand S. Khati heard the matter and permitted the guest teachers to participate in the selection process for the time being. However, the results of their examinations or selection will be kept in a sealed cover. CAT has also agreed to consider their request for age limit relaxation.

**What are the Qualifications and Age Limits?**
Candidates applying for the posts of Principal and Vice-Principal must hold a Master's degree and a B.Ed. qualification from a recognized institution. For the post of Principal, a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience is required; this experience must be in the capacity of PGT, TGT, or Vice-Principal.

For the post of Vice-Principal, a minimum of two years of experience as a PGT or three years as a TGT is mandatory. The maximum age limit is set at 50 years for the post of Principal and 35 years for the post of Vice-Principal. Reserved category candidates will receive age relaxation in accordance with the rules; however, the maximum age limit cannot exceed 56 years.

The CAT has clarified that participating in the recruitment process does not guarantee an appointment. A final decision regarding the eligibility of guest teachers will be taken after the hearing of the case. The next hearing is scheduled for October 27.
