BPSC TRE 4 Vacancy 2026: A major change is set to take place in the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) in Bihar, and lakhs of candidates are eagerly awaiting it. This time, appointments will be made for 46,595 posts, and the most significant aspect is that vacancies will now be announced on a district-wise basis. This means that, unlike in the past, candidates will not be subject to arbitrary postings anywhere in the state. Now, district allocation will be determined strictly based on merit, and reservation categories will also be applied on a district-wise basis.

Candidates Must Select from All 38 Districts in the Application Form
As per the BPSC, candidates filling out the application form will no longer be limited to selecting just three preferred districts; instead, they must now choose from among all 38 districts of Bihar. District allocation will be based entirely on merit. Candidates will be selected for a specific district in proportion to the number of vacancies available in that particular district. The reservation roster will also be strictly adhered to; this implies that districts with a higher number of vacancies will accommodate more appointees, while those with fewer vacancies will accommodate fewer.

Plans to Abolish the 'Request-Based Transfer' System
During the previous TRE cycle, the system of granting transfers based on individual requests led to significant administrative challenges. Candidates frequently requested transfers, causing operational difficulties for the department. Consequently, during a recent meeting between the BPSC and the Education Department, a decision was taken to abolish this system. Candidates will now be required to serve in the specific district allocated to them. This measure is expected to significantly reduce the administrative burden associated with transfer requests. While this proposed change was discussed during the recent meeting between the Education Department and the BPSC, the final decision rests with the Commission.

Vacancies Announced for 46,595 Posts
The BPSC has received comprehensive details regarding the vacancies from the General Administration Department. A total of 46,595 posts have been announced. Of these, the largest share—approximately 45,000 posts—falls under the Education Department. The remaining posts are distributed across various departments, including ITI (Industrial Training Institutes), BDO (Block Development Officers), the Agriculture Department, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, and the Minority Welfare Department. Additionally, there are 1,559 posts under the CCI (Craftsmen Instructor) category; the examination for these posts is scheduled to be held between September 22 and September 27, 2026, with results expected to be declared in November.

When Will the Official Advertisement Be Released? — Candidates' Protest

Candidates have expressed significant frustration and anger over the delay in the release of the official recruitment advertisement. In March, thousands of teacher aspirants staged a protest march. Led by the Bihar Student Union and other organizations, the march began at a college and proceeded through Gandhi Chowk, Musallahpur Haat, Bhikhna Pahari, Naya Tola, Marjadpur, and Kalapur, finally reaching Gandhi Maidan. Here, the march was halted by the police and security personnel from the JD(U) office, who had erected barricades. After an hour of efforts, a six-member delegation led by student leader Dilip Kumar proceeded to meet with officials at the BPSC office and the Home Secretary. The aspirants were informed that a meeting between the BPSC and officials from the Education Department is scheduled for March 20.

Following this meeting, the official recruitment advertisement could be released by the end of March, as soon as the formal request is submitted. Dilip Kumar stated that the aspirants have been waiting for two years. Assurances were given—both before and during the elections—that the TRE-4 recruitment drive would be announced soon. While an assurance regarding the notification was provided for the second week of February, the official advertisement has yet to be released. Consequently, lakhs of aspirants remain disheartened. There is now hope that the advertisement will be issued in April, following which the application process will commence.
