Librarian recruitment has been announced in Bihar after 14 years. The BPSC will soon begin the application process for approximately 6,500 positions, for which a degree in Library Science is required.

The Bihar government has approved the recruitment of librarians after a long delay. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will soon release the notification for the Bihar Librarian Recruitment 2025.

The Education Department has received the list of vacant positions from the districts, and after final clearance, these positions will be sent to the BPSC. It is expected that approximately 6,500 positions will be filled this time. However, the exact number of positions will be revealed only with the official notification.

The last recruitment for librarian positions in Bihar took place in 2011-12. Since then, no new recruitment has been announced for the past 14 years. After this long wait, candidates are finally getting this golden opportunity. This is why thousands of candidates are eyeing this recruitment.

What are the required qualifications?

To participate in this recruitment, a candidate must have a bachelor's degree in library science. General category candidates must have a minimum of 45 percent marks in graduation. The minimum required marks for reserved categories, disabled candidates, and women candidates is 40 percent. Candidates must also pass the eligibility test.

Age Limit

Regarding the age limit, a candidate must be at least 21 years old. Under the new rules, the upper age limit will be relaxed by up to 10 years. Women will also be given special opportunities in this recruitment. 35 percent of the total positions will be reserved for women. A domicile policy will also be implemented this time to provide more opportunities to local youth.

How will the selection be conducted?

The selection process for librarian positions will be based on a written examination. The exam may include questions related to library science, general knowledge, and reasoning. The detailed exam pattern and syllabus will be clarified upon notification.

When the application process begins, candidates will be able to apply online only. To do this, they will need to visit the official BPSC website, bpscpat.bihar.gov.in. New candidates will first need to complete a one-time registration. After completing the registration, they will need to log in and fill in the remaining information. Next, they will need to pay the application fee according to their category. Finally, after submitting the form, they will need to keep a printout of it.
