Jobs: More than 12,000 teacher posts are vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country. This information was given by Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary through a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

He informed that 7,765 teacher posts are currently vacant in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and 4,323 teacher posts in Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).

The minister explained the reason for the vacancies.

Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary said that vacancies on teacher posts arise due to many reasons, such as the establishment of new schools, retirement, resignation, promotion, transfer, employees going on deputation to other departments, and upgradation of schools. He said that the process of filling these posts continues continuously and is completed under the relevant recruitment rules.

Contract teachers are appointed so that the teaching work is not interrupted.
The Minister of State for Education said that provision has been made to appoint contract teachers on a temporary basis so that the teaching activities continue smoothly.

He also informed that there are 143 vacancies for Group-A teaching posts in the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the process of filling which is underway. Apart from this, there are currently 60 vacancies in the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).

Appropriate steps are being taken by the government to fill all these vacant posts so that there is no interruption in the education system of the country.
